I’m writing to share about classes coming up this month and next - which I am super excited about.
But it’s hard to write without saying - wow, what a heartbreaking time it’s been. A few minutes ago, I was walking to do some work at my favorite cute coffee shop. (Hi from the best table at Early Bird!). I was listening to The Daily, as is my morning ritual, and SOBBING at the unthinkable cruelty of what’s going on in Israel and Gaza. What a time to be a Jew in the world. What a time to be a human in the world. A parent. A friend. A daughter. A writer. A person with a heart.
To hold some of this and show up to pack lunches and carry Julius half the way home from the playground because he doesn’t want to sit in the wagon and write a press release about a new paneer brand and shimmy Simone’s too-small sneakers on her little, growing feet because she insists they are not too small and they are “her favorite in the world.” To remember to buy more cream cheese and brush my teeth and brush the kids’ teeth and give them a bath even though they are fighting over the side with more bubbles. To write an email and teach a class. To write an article about carving turkeys. To write an article about wine from Burgundy. To remember to invoice. To clean up poopy diapers. To read the book about Mr. Rabbit for the 7th time in a row, and the 17th.
Some days it all feels like too much.
And here I am.
And as I was walking and crying, the sun shone in its autumnal glory, and golden leaves fluttered down from the trees, and the river shimmered ebulliently.
And I got the table by the window.
And I’m writing to you about classes.
These classes are truly a bright spot. I get to connect with incredible writers, share some of what I know, and teach beside people I deeply admire. Please join me! Grab your tix!
